Race the course.
Keep every leg.

Club Racer loads your club's sailing instructions onto your iPhone or iPad, counts you into the start, and walks you round the course mark by mark while it records your track. When you're back at the bar, every leg is there: time, distance sailed and speed.

From the Sailing Instructions to the Start Line

Four steps, and the first one your club can do for you.

01 · MARKS

LOAD YOUR CLUB INFO OR WRITE YOUR OWN

Download your club's sailing instructions by library ID, or build your own marks and courses. Enter positions straight from the SIs, in degrees and minutes or degrees, minutes and seconds.

02 · COURSE

PICK A COURSE TO RACE

Choose the course the race committee posts, or race something you've entered manually. Every leg's length is worked out for you, alongside the distance printed in the SIs.

03 · START

Count down to the gun

Enter the start time as a time for handicapped starts or a "minutes to start".  You'll get countdowns and speech prompts to get you to the line on time.

04 · RACE

Tick off each mark as you round it

The course is a checklist with port and starboard roundings marked. One tap on Next records the time and your GPS position, and moves you on to the next mark.

See where the minutes went

Club Racer saves your GPS track for the whole race. Afterwards each leg shows its time, the distance you actually sailed against the straight-line distance, and your average speed.

The map lays the course over your track, so a long beat or a missed shift stands out straight away. Courses are copied into each race, so changing a course later never alters past results.

FOR CLUBS AND RACE OFFICERS

Publish your sailing instructions once

Each set of SIs becomes one division for one season, such as Southport Yacht Club · Twilight · 26/27. Members download it by its library ID and get every mark and course exactly as you published them, read-only.

Issue an amendment and members can check for it with a swipe. A higher revision replaces the old one, and courses members built from your marks follow along automatically.

Marks-only SIs work too, for divisions whose courses are set at the briefing.

iPhone on deck, iPad at home

Marks, courses, races and settings sync through iCloud.

Positions in any format

27°55.676′S, degrees-minutes-seconds or decimal. Or drop a mark at your GPS fix or on the map.

Shortened course, DNF, Undo

Finish where you are when the committee shortens, save a DNF, or un-tick a mark tapped too soon.

Make a club course your own

Copy any club course to My Courses to change it, or build new courses on a club's marks.
